A member asked:

After washing hands in hotel noticed dried blood on towel. can you contract any hepatitis or hiv if anything got on hands or in mouth from the towel and remained on hands?

Very unlikely, especially as you had washed your hands. I presume that you rewatched your hands and used a different towel? Good Luck

It is very unlikely but not impossible under some rare circumstances. HIV contraction is impossible but contraction from hepatitis B and C is possible if that towel was not a cleaned one because hepatitis viruses survive long in the environment, sometimes days. However, if your hands are intact, you're safe. Hepatitis A is contracted through oral-fecal route, not via blood. You shouldn't worry.

HIV and Hepatitis B and C cannot be transmitted through above mentioned mechanism. Hand hygiene rules still apply as to risk for transmission for other bacteria including hepatitis A.
