I get random burning sensations in my upper left thigh. it feels as if i'm standing against a heater. it's always in the same place and can occur when i'm standing, sitting, or laying down. is this concerning and should i see a doctor for this?

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If there is a rash or if it is getting worse, it would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health!

You may be experiencing an impingement of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve at the level of the groin& is called meralgia paresthetica It is more common in overweight people. & those that drive a lot for a living. It is more of a nuisance than anything serious. Your physician or a neurologist can evaluate and advise you about this symptom.
