A member asked:

Afib controlled, htn. flecainide 50 x2, coreg 12.5 x2, losartan 50 x1. i take the losartan with my evening meds. bp is good all day until 4 or 5 hrs before my evening meds. then my bp raises to 140 or so over 70 or so. do i need my bp meds adjusted?

When losartan first was released I prescribed it often and found that it often had to be administered twice a day for best blood pressure control. The newer ARB's have good once a day effect. Your MD may agree to increasing losartan to every 12 hours to keep your BP closer to 130/80 or lower. Discuss this with him/her as it's important to know your kidney function, potassium level, etc
