A member asked:

Very good evening doctors. if i have both sleep apnea and very frequent urination especially at night, how would i determine if the night urination is from the sleep apnea or from a prostate urinary issue?

At your age it is not uncommon to have both problems. Frequent urination could be prostate or even diabetes. Both can be treated, see an urologist and a sleep disorder doctor for exam and treatment.

Sleep apnea will cause frequency at night and not in day and once it is corrected the frequency should stop. Frequency is a non specific symptom not just related to the prostate. So if it persists you need a good exam. In the meantime avoid fluids-tea coffee soda , water, beer, alcohol after dinner. Hope you feel better
