"Perimenopause", with irregular ovulation and prolonged intervals between menstrual events, along with anxiety over wide hormonal variations, with withdrawal symptoms therefrom, can cause anxiety, stress which can elevate BP. Consult your GYN about using low dose oral bcp's, which can stop ovarian fluctuations and shut down ovarian production of same.

No really good data but, on the average. women's BP tends to climb faster than men as they age. And this seems to start around menopause. If consistently in an unhealthy range then do things to get it down. DASH eating plan is recommended.
