A member asked:

In perimenopause, periods on & off for several years, now instead of flow, getting only light pink scant blood when wiping for 2 weeks, is this normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Perimenopause: As one ages, the ovary takes more time to be prepared for ovulation, which varies the onset of actual "periods" accordingly. Estrogen continues to be produced without ovulation, causing light bleeding on occasion, which should be evaluated if it continues by ultrasound to make certain the lining of the uterus has not thickened and may need biopsy.
