A member asked:

I'm 41 yrs old & my periods for the past 2 months are very light spotting. this month is the same but with a large blood clot. is this perimenopause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: The average age of menopause is 51, so 41 would be very early to go through menopause. Hormones can wax and wane in the 40's though, and it's possible you're just experiencing some hormonal swings. Definition of menopause is no period for a year. Your having then, just lighter. Cannot explain blood clot but could also relate to hormones. See a gynecologist to discuss and possible ultrasound.
