If your doctor is thorough he will spend a lot of time with medical history and physical exam and then you will have a routine blood test along with the recommended screening tests at your age such as PAP smear and mammogram. Take it easy, you are not exceptional, many people are also shy from doctors, you should be fine, good luck and take care.

The goal of maintaining your health and well being is recommended. This can be accomplished with many styles of health, support from physicians, diet, exercise and medication. If there is a specific terror of seeing a physician you may wish to work with a counselor first. Otherwise, please note this issue as a significant part of your visit with the doctor. Best wishes.

You have been fortunate to be stable for years, but unfortunately, as you age, you will encounter challenges. Your fears can be successfully handled via cognitive-behavioral therapy, which will allow you to cope better when working with a doctor. Perhaps you might feel best with an holistic approach. The fear of the unknown can be addressed.
