A member asked:

Does methotrexate for psoriasis affect fertility after stopping treatment for male? does it increase chances of birth defects?

There are no reports suggesting that males who use methotrexate at the time of conception are more likely to conceive a baby with a birth defect. It also has no effect on a male's fertility. But if you want to be absolutely sure, wait 1 to 3 months after stopping it before trying to conceive a baby.

I concur with Doc Eastern. Males get a break with exposures in that there are millions of sperm forming from stem cells continuously over time. Any "impaired" percentage would tend to be the least capable swimmers in pursuit of successful conception. Yet avoiding the possibility during treatment is a good thing.
