A member asked:

Humira and methotrexate are not working for my psoriasis. i asked the doctor about stelara (ustekinumab). dr. hasn't seen good results w/other patients on stelera so doesn't use it. what would you recommend?

Possibly: It is not uncommon to make treatment decisions based on personal experiences. I am not a dermatologist and i don't have experience with stelera. 3 other tnf's may provide good results. They are enbrel, simponi, (golimumab) and remicade.

Stelara (ustekinumab): Stelara (ustekinumab) is a terrific drug for severe psoriasis and often works when Methotrexate and Humira are ineffective. The beauty of this therapy is that you will need only one injection every 3 months.

Try others: There are other good biologics, enbrel(very safe), and remicade(very effective) you may try. Not all biologics are equally effective for individuals. Sometimes, docs would try combinations.

STELERA/HUMIRA/METHT: Well if you have no improvement with Humira (adalimumab) and methtrexate, than there is no harm in trying stelera.Discuss with your doctor that it is not working, so what is the harm in trying if stelera will work for you otherwise you can get a second opinion from another dermatologist.
