Im having vaginal irritation from time to time and i have brown discharge for a week after my period with a strong odor. sometimes theres itching. ive never had a problem down there before, whats going on?

A bacterial or yeast infection of the vagina (vaginitis) cannot be ruled out. You can try sitz bath (2-4 tablespoon of baking soda in a container with 2 inches of water, warm or normal temp), use for 10 minutes, 2 times a day, daily for 3 days then every other day until symptoms resolve and you can repeat it recurs. If symptoms have not improved, see a GYN doctor for exam and test.
