IgM HSV testing is unreliable and you do not necessarily have HSV. Whether or not you should take PrEP to prevent HSV depends on the types and frequency of sexual exposure you have. HSV2 (but not HSV1) elevates the risk of HIV if sexually exposed, but whether or not you have HSV makes no difference in PrEP decisions. Get proper testing (IgG, not IgM) to better judge your herpes situation.
