My 10 year old has had a cough for 3 weeks. in the last few days she has been coughing every minute or so all throughout the day. negative covid test. what could be causing this very frequent, persistent cough? thanks?

Did she have a preceding head cold that moved to her chest? If so and her cough is a dry one, it could be from some residual tracheal irritation that will resolve. Sometimes such coughing is due to bronchial asthma without the wheezing. It's best to have her pediatrician examine her and advise. A suppressant cough syrup may be all she needs at this time.

Whooping cough may be the issue if not fully vaccinated or it could be a breakthrough case if she was. A variant of asthma will also produce a chronic cough. Treat the symptoms for now but it would be worth a good evaluation.
