A member asked:

Ive been under severe chronic stress from trauma. dr. said i have gad. couple days after taking one antidepressant, had an involuntary eye roll, tongue protrusion, involuntary grimacing, raising eyebrows, one time. could this be tardive dyskinesia?

.You don't mention what the medication was. Tardive dyskinesia takes at least a few months to develop as a side effect. Your symptoms seemed characteristic of it but I don't think they were caused by 2 days of that medication. Nevertheless notify your prescribing physician of those symptoms and get advice and instructions.

This was not the initial presentation of tardive dyskinesia, which takes a period of time. Rather I suspect an "oculogyric crisis" reaction and would avoid further use of this medication. Contact the doctor who prescribed this, and, if necessary, get a second opinion.
