A member asked:

What is maximum dose of zantac that can be safely taken per day? i am taking 20 mg every 12 hours but that is not helping much. can i take 20 mg every 8 hours instead? i.e 60 mg per day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nonprescription maximum dose is 20mgs twice a day. 40 mgs twice a day is maximum dose for prescription strength purposes. If symptoms aren't relieved with 20 mgs twice a day for 10 days, you should consult a gastroenterologist for accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.
