Called Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB) with many causes with change to menopause being one. 42years is a little young but a visit to the PCP/ Gynecologist will be a good idea at this time.

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor, preferably a gynecologist. You should take oral iron and multivitamin supplements to prevent anemia from blood loss. Wish you good health!
