Truthfully, only the orthopedic surgeon that reviewed your x-rays can reliably answer this question. On this forum, we would not be able to determine the risk of that hairline fracture advancing with weightbearing. I suggest giving the doctor's office a call and getting an answer directly from that individual regarding the necessity to use the crutches.
