Significant fluctuations in blood sugar is a cause, but if both of your eyes are inflamed this could be a cause. Simple morning eye dryness shouldn't last hours. Fluid accumulation in the corneas is a possibility. I recommend having an ophthalmologist examine you for accurate diagnosis and advice.

Check your blood pressure and blood sugar. One of the early symptoms of severe hypertension is blurred vision. Very high sugar can cause blurred vision as well but it's usually associated with nausea and frequent voiding.
