A member asked:

I have g6pd deficiency, can i consume tree nuts such as walnuts, almonds and cashews? i am confused at the many opinions. with noting that my last g6pd assay was 0.9 u/ghb. i used to eat them before getting hymlosis episode 10 years ago?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Most physicians & medical students know about eating fava beans causing hemolytic anemia in people with G6PD deficiency but not about other foods as causes. Aspirin, some other meds, infections & even stress are felt to be triggers. A hematologist or, perhaps, your pharmacist may have more information about your question.
