A member asked:

I quit milk 2 months ago, and havent been consuming much calcium. ive been experiencing some muscle weakness/soreness, and some fatigue/confusion. i drank a lot of almond milk yesterday, and all these symptoms went away. is it calcium deficiency?

Unlikely: Absense of milk for 2 months should not bring about the symptoms you describe, nor will drinking almond milk actually treat your symptoms. Just because something happens, what follows doesn’t necessarily result from that event. If the symptoms persist, you should be evaluated by a doctor. In the meantime, eat healthy foods at consistent times, get 8 hours sleep, exercise responsibly and smile more

No worries!: If you otherwise eat a balanced diet, merely by stopping dairy products doesn't lead to calcium deficiency., And calcium deficiency doesn't cause the symptoms you descrtibe.

Almond milk: Be aware that almond milk doesn't naturally contain calcium. Some products are fortified with calcium, however. Your symptoms were not characteristic of calcium deficiency, but If they recur it would warrant an evaluation by a physician.

Weakness : When we don't take in calcium the body maintains calcium by getting it from the bones. So, if this connection of not taking in calcium and weakness is the case, you can get your calcium level checked. There could be an unusual problem with that mechanism that would normally raise body calcium
