Ramipril and other ACE Inhibitors have a role in the treatment of mitral valve regurgitation. Most of the studies though have been at a dose of 10 mg, so the evidence is better for the higher dose. It can be one medication in managing this problem

Ramipril does not help with directly, but may reduce it if your blood pressure is elevated or if you have cardiac enlargement suggesting significant regurgitation. Many echo reports refer to "moderate mitral regurgitation" which is a meaningless term without further description of ventricular function, ventricular or left atrial enlargement. Suggest cardiologist examination and echo review.
