A member asked:

Had a clean colonoscopy in may. have seen a random tiny tiny spec of blood like a dot on my stool - can hemorrhoids just leave just a tiny spec of blood on stool? is there any reason to question colonoscopy can something be missed? thank you?

Hemorrhoids could be responsible for the observation. However, even hemorrhoids can bleed enough to cause anemia. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an examination.

A tiny spec of blood (fresh blood) on the stool is likely due to lesion in the rectal area and colonoscopy rarely misses that. If the colonoscopy finding confirmed the present of internal hemorrhoids, that is likely the cause. Lesion above the rectum from the descending colon and higher does not cause a tiny spec of fresh blood because blood has enough time to miss with your stool.
