Dark spots on nails: Moles in nail matrix can give brown or grey longitudinal streaks in nails. So can melanoma. If a new pigmented streak develops, particularly if it is unevenly colored or varies in width, it must be biopsied to rule out melanoma. Nail fungus or inflammation like lichen planus can give dark spots. So can certain medications. Blood under nails doesn't last several years. Please have this evaluated.
