My one year old son has a blue/black spot on his left toe nail. it has been there for like two months.

Bruise: He likely hit his toe & accumulated blood beneath the nail. When this happens it takes a long time for the stain to grow out. Kids toenails grow at 1-2 mm/mo so it can take quite a while for it to move to the top & allow you to cut away the stained part. It is not a reason to worry.
