Went from bactrim 2xday to macrobid 100 mg 2xday as bactrim was not helping much. after 2 doses of macrobid, pelvic pressure and need to pee is worse. before bactrim, leuk-trace,nit positive, now leuk-positive, nit pos. what should i do?

Contact your prescriber. It sounds as though the infection being treated is worsening, and additional support than Macrobid may be required.

If you have a history of recurrent UTI, chance of bacterial resistance to bactrim, macrobid and quinolone is high. You need to have a urine culture done first then your doctor can start Augmentin, 500/125, one capsule, twice a day x 7 days. If you are allergic to Penicillin, your doctor can use second or third generation cephalosporins (less likely cross reaction), pending culture result.
