Good morning doctors. i have to get a covid rapid antigen test before a cruise. if the rapid test were to come back positive, how do i make sure that it is not a false positive? what are the next steps that i should take?

You will need to do a PCR test as more specific. But takes longer. Or repeat the original test. There is NO WAY to make sure a + test is not a false + other than to repeat more than once or to use a more sensitive and specific test(s). There is no test that is has 00% true + or no false negatives. I am certain the cruise folks will have their own guidelines on what to do. Discuss with them.

If you want the most specific test, get a RT-PCR test not the rapid. You can trust the result.
