Yes, sometimes caused by extra systoles that are early beats followed by longer pauses and described sometimes as such by patients.

My pats usually tell me they felt a thump. Then when they pay more attention they feel an early beat & then a pause & then a real hard beat. Some will take their pulse by feeling it at the wrist & can give me more information such as the beats are irregular or irregularly irregular or only once in a while. Or they say may say it flip flops. Take good notes and discuss with your Dr. Never sinking
