Urgent: If you can see urgent care, they can obtain an EKG and laboratory testing. This may be less expensive. If you are having difficulty breathing, please see the Emergency Department.

No gain: You will be treated as john doe, life threatening diagnoses will be ruled out. If your heart is not acting out at the time and no significant conditions are identified you will be discharged from ER with a recommendation to see a cardiologist and a 4 digit bill. If there are significant changes or findings you will be likely be admitted and couple of specialists will be consulted.

Chest pain: Contact a local clinic and see if they can see you instead to going to ER. If at the clinic it is determined that you need ER visit then they can send you otherwise the doctor can manage it in the clinic. Usually clinics have payment plans for patients who do not have insurance. It will be cheaper than an ER bill. Good luck.
