I had nissen fundoplication w/ hiatal hernia repair. when is it safe for me to go back to full duty work? im a police officer & wear a duty belt & vest. at any moment i may have to be involved in strenuous activity?

It depends whether you had open or laparoscopic surgery. Open surgery usually requires 4-6 weeks recovery time. It is best for your surgeon to tell you when to resume full duty as he/she knows you and the operation done on you better than anyone else.

obviously u would want to ask the surgeon who did your surgery for specific time. But, we generally recommend 4-6 weeks before returning to activity without limitations. With this laparoscopic? Or an open procedure ?
