I quit working about a year ago. my muscles seem to have started to deteriorate. now when i move a certain way, my muscles feel stiff and even hurt. ive started to exercise and they still hurt. not really sure what to do?

Deconditioning is definitely likely, specifically if your work involved moderate to intense physical activities and you are doing the right thing ramping up exercise. Other medical conditions affecting your muscles cannot be ruled out and checking in with your doc is strongly recommended.

Keep exercising, as tolerated. Gradually increase the time and intensity of exercise. If that does not help in 3-4 weeks, it would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health!
