A member asked:

My vaginal swab test indicated many pus cells (47-56), many gram-negative bacilli, moderate squamous cells, and moderate mucus threads. what does this mean?

The important findings are the large no. of white blood cells ("pus cells") and the presence of mucus. Together these suggest inflammation in your cervix (cervicitis). (The vagina itself has no mucus-secreting glands.) Cervicitis is often due to an STD, especially gonorrhea or chlamydia, or trichomonas. Your sex partner(s) probably should be tested as well. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck.
