A member asked:

With physical therapy for shoulder soft tissue problem is it better to do heat/electrical stimulation before exercises or after? or doesnt matter?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This is not a simple answer. Heat generally relaxes a tense or tightened muscle. If the muscle is tense and tight prior to exercises, then heat can loosen it in order to accomplish an effective exercise regimen. Depending on the status of the muscle, electric stim can either tighten or relax a muscle. This is better left to the discretion of the physical therapist.
