My 18 month old fell while running outside today. she landed on her hand therefore we took her to an urgent care as she was in pain. x-ray was taking & fracture was not seen, the nurse says a growth plate fracture might not show up on x-ray?

If she has persistent swelling or/and pain pl take her to an orthopedic MD If not she should be OK

Yes you can not see fractures of the growth plate unless the fracture (break) is displaced. If the child is favoring the hand and not playing with both hands, it would be valuable to seek attention with a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon or a orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon
