Right upper quadrant abdominal pain usually indicates gallstones or inflammation of the gall bladder. See a GI specialist, and he/she will order a scan which can determine the cause. Keep your fatty food intake low, as it will aggravate the stated pain.

In my experience exam and history commonly do not rule out or in a gall bladder problem. Usually, one needs to do some sort of laboratory and imaging study to be sure. If there are no apparent structural issues in the biliary tract a HIDA scan can be used to see if there are functional abnormalities.

There are a number of tests such as ultrasound and HIDA scan which can help diagnose gallbladder problems. But there is no one test to guarantee that your gallbladder is the source of your symptoms. This is why it is necessary to see if physician who can examine you and order the appropriate test.
