It depends on amount of the protein constituting the bands. If it is more than 3 g/dL it warrants additional investigation to rule out multiple myeloma. If you have any symptoms, such as tiredness, anemia, bone pain or weight loss you need to be evaluated. If the protein level is low, you need to be monitored and band level checked periodically.
