A member asked:

I had a serum immunofixation and serum electrophoresis run and the interpretation was suspicious of monoclonal gammopathy and igg lambda. what does this mean? the beta and gamma globulin where at 0.6 and 0.7 g/dl?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, such a finding is not uncommon with advancing age. Your doctor will probably repeat the test a 6-12 months to assess if the monoclonal IgG lambda is increasing. Wish you good health!
