Tsh 0.02 (0.34-5.6), ft3 4.1 (4-6.6), ft4 13.2, levothyroxine for 23 years (since 19). dose 137.5mcg. female, 5'6, 280lb. symptoms: brittle nails, hair thinning, dry skin, constantly tired, muscle aches, cold. why do i feel hypothyroid if tsh so low?

Thank you for that question. Thank you for the specifics and the excellent lab presentation. Yes it’s entirely possible that you have hypothyroidism even though your TSH is low. This could be a problem with your hypothalamus or pituitary gland as well. In any case giving Synthroid should help you.

Your symptoms may reflect your obesity rather than hypothyroidism. It would be prudent to lose weight through diet and exercise. It is not easy, but imperative. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.
