A member asked:

My mri scan showed a ruptured dermoid cyst on my brain. my symptoms include nystagmus, dizziness, and headaches. i know nobody can tell me for certain without seeing my scan report but what is the likelihood i will need surgery?

If the lesion is inside the skull and directly impinging on the brain tissue, it would be prudent to get it out and that may need surgery. Wish you good health!

Not feasible to provide statistical advice regarding your cyst. Surgical intervention is typically based on risk/ benefit considerations, such as progressive worsening and deterioration, with compression of brain tissue. It may be, at this point, that maximal effect of cyst has occurred and no expectation of further deterioration. Discuss with neurosurgeon.
