Depression can give you concentration issues, depending on the severity of the depression. If concentration is a problem, it can definitely come across as memory issues since you won’t remember something that is said if you couldn’t concentrate on the conversation. Depression is treatable so see your doctor for any signs or symptoms of depression, especially for thoughts of self-harm. Good luck!

Depression affects brain function including and causes brain fog (a term for decreased memory, concentration, alertness, focus of attention, confusion, low energy, poor sleep, and recalling words). Improved sleep, exercise (activity), dance, nutrition, stress reduction, relaxation, and positive interaction may help. Seek mental health help. Be healthy!

Not unusual for depression to blunt cognitive functions, especially focus, concentration, processing speed, and even short term memory. "Brain fog" as mentioned can cover a variety of intellectual compromises, and surely is a part of depression in most sufferers. See a psychiatrist or psychologist and initiate treatment. Should see a impressive improvement in a short time.

Depression is treatable and you should see a doctor at your earliest. In the meantime, start exercising. Begin with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity so that you sweat profusely. It may take a few months for the full effect. Wish you good health!
