A 48-year-old male asked:

I had ercp to remove a gallstone from my common bile duct. the stone is removed, i'm fit and healthy but i have a concern. does having ercp increase the risk of bile duct cancer or pancreatic cancer in the future?

One benefit would be that ERCP might pick up a cancer there. As cancer can result from repeated irritation from chronic gallstones (maybe) you should now be at less risk.

There is no evidence that an ERCP for removal of a common bile duct stone increases your risk of bile duct or pancreas cancer.

Unless there was a very early cancer in the duct that blocked the flow and cause formation of stone. Yet the cancer is too small for doctor to detect yet. If stone recurred in the same area then be more aggressive to check for it
