A member asked:

Is it okay for a 87 year old male to be on trademill on an extremely slow speed not to cause any cardiac issues as he got stents and previous minor cardiac attacks?

The best answer is that after the heart stents, the individual should have gone to cardiac rehab where the patient would have been monitored on the treadmill and given specifics as to what speed and incline would have been safe for the heart and how to self monitor. If this didn't happen the cardiologist should write a prescription for this.

Your cardiologist is the person to contact with this question. If the stents were recent and if there was no additional disease, it may be safe to be on an exercise program, but you must contact the cardiologist . Based on his knowledge of the patient, he will be able to give you reliable guidance. Not safe for anyone else to give you advise. Remember, exercise is likely to be beneficial if okay w
