A member asked:

I have a carpal boss that occured after an injury (a strong force to my hand). i'm just wondering what happened to the bone that it occured in the first place? did the bone break a little and then heal with a overgrowth? did it only become swollen?

Truthfully any answer would only be a guess in this instance. To determine what is actually going on would require an evaluation and likely an X-ray. The bump is either bone or a ganglion cyst.

Without an x-ray hard to know exactly what is going on. Likely a ganglion before a carpal boss at your age. Your doc should be able to sort that out for you.
