Despite its wide usage, esomeprazole has not been felt to be toxic to the liver and has been used in patients with chronic liver disease such as for the eradication of h pylori. It may be metabolized slower in the presence of liver disease so I wouldn't recommend using the stronger dose. Your pharmacist and/or a gastroenterologist can advise you further.
