The current high fever is less likely due to Covid-19 infection and C-reactive protein is just a reactive protein, it can be high in many conditions. Your nephew needs a thorough exam for a correct diagnosis. Covid-19 pandemic makes us overlook many other infectious conditions which also cause high fever.

It could be covid with a negative test or another viral illness. Still, you would want to give Ibuprofen every 6 hrs and fluids to hydrate. If fevers persist high from here, see reg MD for w/u. C reactive protein reflects high degree of inflammation but may be acute, not chronic.
