I ate 3 hours before going to bed, but i woke up (9 hours after eating) in the middle of the night with terrible gas pains for 5 minutes and after farting a few times it went away. then 3 hours later at 6am i had a normal bowel movement. what is this?

Most likely contaminated food/ drinks with mild acute gastroenteritis. Should resolve on its own otherwise see PCP.
