I would assume that the stress and hormonal changes related to your period have combined to create an irritable bowel pattern. I recommend eating small amounts more often than a full meal. I expect bowel pattern will normalize after the period. Drinking flat ginger ale helps combat nausea. Taking simethicone after eating prevents gas buildup.
