A member asked:

Is it common to have fibroids in breast? 2 in left breast and 3 in right breast. is that considered a lot? all of them are smaller than 1cm. mostly 2-5mm. largest being 7mm?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fibrocystic areas in breast tissue are sometimes referred to as "fibroids", but the term is usually meant for smooth muscle tumors of the uterus. Fibrocystic breast "disease" is not necessarily a pre-malignant or malignant condition, but is very common , and can be minimalized by using oral bcp's in late 30's and 40's, which makes mammograms more accurate to detect serious disease.
