A member asked:

Wbc 3.4ul, neutrophils 1.2ul, lymphocytes 50%, but lymph absolute is normal. is this concerning? i had j&j vax last week, could this be a short term side effect? anything i can do to get my counts normal?

Have your prior cbc&differential cell counts also showed a low total wbc & high absolute lymphocyte count? If so you may have an autoimmune disorder. if not, this combination can be caused by a viral infection. The covid vaccine has been known to cause a decrease in the neutrophil component of the cbc. I recommend repeating your cbc&diff in a few weeks if you're experiencing no symptoms.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, what your described may be your normal. Unless there has been a change in your counts, it is not a cause for concern. Wish you good health!
