I had blood drawn 5 days ago. have a quarter size bruise. 2 days ago i noticed the elbow below the vein puncture was also discolored like a bruise, no injury there. yesterday my arm began to hurt and still does? complications?

The discoloration at the elbow area was from blood that dripped down from a punctured vein. This alone shouldn't cause pain unless superficial phlebitis developed in the injured vein. Can you trace pain to the vein that was punctured? If phlebitis developed it should be tender& treated with warm applications. Swelling of the arm or worsening pain or redness would indicate a visit to your MD
