A member asked:

Is fit as effective for colon cancer screening as colonoscopy? which one is better?

I think colonoscopy is much better diagnostically as well as therapeutically. The reason being that if you find a polyp during colonoscopy you can remove it at the same time. If you find a cancer you can biopsy it right away. In a FIT test , if it is positive then you have to get a colonoscopy anyway to look for a lesion.

Colonoscopy is better as any polyps that may be there can be removed during the procedure. FIT may be done as a screening test, but a positive result would warrant a colonoscopy. Wish you good health!
